This cluster draws together research at UCLan from across many fields where social relations are being transformed and mediated through different technologies. All social scientists will encounter the question of socio-technical relations in some form or another, for example, with the digital mediation of social services, the introduction of new assistive and medical devices, or the impact of changing forms of transport and communication. Likewise, many STEM researchers will find their research needs a social science component. When research meets the challenge of bridging disciplinary boundaries between the ‘social’ and the ‘technological’ sciences, these transdisciplinary collaborations produce useful knowledge to address the social and technological entanglements of the present.
